Our pastors will participate in the Pre-Pride Interfaith Service on Sunday, Aug. 15 at 10:30 a.m. at the JCC of the Lehigh Valley, 702 N. 22nd St., Allentown. All are welcome to attend.

The outdoor service is sponsored by the Bethlehem Interfaith Group, of which First Pres is a member, and the Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center. It will also be livestreamed on the BIG Facebook page, and ASL interpretation will be part of the service.

The guest sermon will be shared by Rev. Brandan Robertson. He is a noted author, activist, and public theologian, working at the intersections of spirituality and social renewal. A prolific writer, he is the author of eight books on spirituality, justice, and theology. He also serves on the faculty of The Lakelands Institute.

Robertson has served on advisory committees and working groups for the Democratic National Convention, the U.S. Department of State, the Department of Health and Human Services, The Humane Society, and in 2020, Robertson was also named a Fellow of the Salzburg Global Seminar. From 2017 – 2021, Robertson served as the Senior Pastor of Missiongathering Christian Church in San Diego, CA.

He has worked as a national organizer of people of faith on a wide array of social and political issues for respected organizations such as Interfaith Alliance of Colorado and Faith In Public Life, and is a respected convener of religious leaders from across the social and political spectrum. He is also a founding member of The Union of Affirming Christians and The Global Interfaith Commission on LGBTQ+ Lives.
