Essence 2, a community-based choir based in State College, will present a concert of African American sacred and secular music on Saturday, March 25.
The free concert will be offered at 4 p.m. at College Hill Presbyterian Church, 501 Brodhead St., Easton, in collaboration with First Presbyterian Church of Bethlehem.
The 70-voice choir includes singers from high school age to elders, and is directed by Dr. Anthony T. Leach, professor emeritus of music/music education at Penn State. He founded Essence 2 as an extension of the Essence of Joy Choir, which he founded and directed while serving as conductor of the Penn State University Choir from 1994 – 2015. Leach also coordinated the African American Music Festival at Penn State.
The concert will also feature numbers by the Chancel Choirs of College Hill and First Presbyterian Church.
All are welcome to attend; there will be a free will offering taken at the event.
