Adult Learning Opportunities

FPCB’s Discipleship Committee’s learning opportunities are always open to anyone interested in participating.

You are encouraged to peruse our archive of programs, recorded via Zoom.

Pray Without Ceasing” – a two-part online series (April 21-28) with a third in-person session (May 15) in the Memorial Garden on the church grounds. In three sessions together, participants are invited to examine their experience with traditional and institutional prayer forms, while extending their knowledge and comfort with other lesser known prayer structures. The third session offered an opportunity for a self-guided time of reflection in the garden.

Lenten Supper Series – a five-part series on Feb. 24-March 24; the topic was “Worship: Praising and Enjoying God Together”. Read more about each session and the presenters.

Living Spiritually in a Material World” – a three-part series presented on Jan. 13-27.

  • Jan. 13: “Biblical Economics”
  • Jan. 20: “Effective Christian Responses to Poverty”; guest presenter: Abby Goldfarb, executive director of the Lehigh Conference of Churches
  • Jan. 27: “Decluttering as a Spiritual Discipline”

Creating Your Spiritual Family Tree” – presented Jan. 6, 2021. You can also download the accompanying document here to print it. NOTE: The video begins with a short prayer service in the wake of the January 6 attack on the Nation’s Capitol Building.

Series (October 2020): “Paul’s Letter to the Galatians” (The Rev. Dr. Steve Simmons)

Faith in Living Color” – presented June 10-24, 2020 by The Rev. J.C. Austin, who shares, “‘Faith in Living Color’ was designed for anyone, but white people in particular, who want to understand the basics of why race and racism are such important and such difficult topics for white people to engage. It was specifically designed to look at these issues from pastoral and sociological and theological standpoints.”
