Help with the new community garden on Thursday evenings…

The Barn Community Garden has extended their ecumenical mission program to grow food for the disadvantaged in our community by having a garden plot on our church grounds. Volunteers work with Master Gardeners to produce food for area soup kitchens and public outreach programs. And from the organizers of our new partnership: “Wow…what a beautiful site for the newest Barn Community garden! First Presbyterian Church of Bethlehem gives us a garden in the Bethlehem area. This is a great help for our Bethlehem volunteers and also will be easier access for our Sikh brothers and sisters. If you want to see what it really means to work as a team come out on Thursday evenings at 5 PM. Many of the volunteers are new and represent both Christians and Sikhs. Our first meeting was a full evening with tilling/fertilizing/putting up posts and fencing, but we got it all done. Planting plans for this garden, run by our two great Master gardeners, Judy and Barb, will be for corn, potatoes, watermelons, herbs and flowers.”
