This will be an inductive style study with no outside materials required. Childcare is provided with advanced registration. This Bible study meets in Room 212. Deadline to register for child care is September 6. This class runs September 13-November 29, 2017, 9-11 a.m.

Women's Retreat Summary From the Recent Women's Retreat at Spruce Lake

The 3rd annual FPC Women’s Retreat was held at Spruce Lake Retreat Center in Canadensis, PA from Friday, March 24 through Sunday, March 26.  We were overwhelmed by the response of the ladies who registered to attend and happily scrambled to accommodate 92 ladies from our church and their invited guests. Rev. Dr. Marnie Crumpler was our headliner who easily helped us understand key temptations that Jesus faced and how we can use his solutions to gain our own identity in Christ.  We symbolically passed our temptations to God and found we are his beloved children and He is pleased with each of us.  Marnie’s message was laced with humor, intertwined with compassion while grounded with a deep understanding of God’s grace.

Our Silent Auction consisted of many beautifully decorated baskets, jewelry and gift certificates gathered or donated by the attendees.  After last minute bidding, our tally reached $1,732 for Truth for Women to be used to provide restorative care for sexually exploited women and increase awareness of sex trafficking in the LV.

We created and prayed over baby blankets to be given to St. Luke’s Hospital neonatal unit and we made journals for cancer patients.  We also hiked in the beautiful Pocono Mountains, ate heartily of the delicious food, played games and laughed until our insides ached.  What a blessed time of joyful sojourning with our Sisters in Christ. Many thanks to all who contributed and to God above who delivered us all safely, stayed with us through the weekend and sealed our hearts. Join us next year!

The focus of the Together… is faith development through Bible study and fellowship, and the support of missions through gifts and service. All women of the church are welcome. E-mail Jan Marsh for more information.

Compassion isn’t something we create on our own. It is often born out of a deep brokenness in which we experience the unspeakable comfort of God, and now we have the opportunity to offer that comfort to other women.

  • Truth for WomenCome join our local mission partner, Truth for Women in their mission to transform women from the inside out by confronting life issues such as sex trafficking, through support, education, and advocacy. As part of their ministry, they operate a live-in home Truth Home and My Sister's Closet, a women's resale boutique and funding source for their women's center. They are looking for women use their flare for fashion and hearts for service. Open to all women in our congregation. For more information, contact Trish Fritz and Tammy Adelsberger.

  • Card Ministry & Workshop—Even in the exploding world of electronic communication, greeting cards are still one of the most welcomed forms of communication today. Few people can resist the excitement of receiving a hand-written envelope and card in the mail. Under the leadership of an expert card maker, the FPC Bethlehem Card Ministry hosts three card-making workshops per year where the participants create more than 80 Easter, Christmas and “Thinking of You” cards. These cards, along with birthday cards, are mailed by the Card Ministry team to senior church members in nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, and retirement villages as well as to those who are unable to leave their homes. Cards are also sent to FPC Bethlehem Missionaries. We invite all women to come and join us for any or all of our workshops. We guarantee you will have fun, meet new women and make beautiful cards. For more information on the next workshop or to be placed on our mailing list, contact Karen Hammer.

There are many other ways to connect and serve at FPC Bethlehem. Do you like to prepare meals, pray, knit, quilt, create cards, garden, make crafts? To get connected, contact Pastor Beth Case or Together…Ministry to Women co-chairs Bobbi Edwards or Beth Bloss
