Meet Dave & Marie Boltz. Dave does double duty work on the Creative Arts Team (CAT) by leading worship with the The Oasis Band on his Saxophone, and helping lead the Prayer of Confession. Marie is one talented hospitality volunteer and lead usher. They’ve been involved here at FPC Bethlehem for over 40 years and with the CAT since it began.
What’s your favorite scripture/song that inspires you to volunteer?
Matthew 25:40. ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
What’s your favorite thing about each other?
Marie is consistently thinking about others’ needs and how she can be of help to them. Dave has strong moral principles, which serve as examples to others.
How does volunteering together contribute to your growth as a family?
As we get more involved in the things God has called us to do we grow closer to each other. We enjoy doing things together (even grocery shopping) after more than 53 years of marriage. We deliver Meals On Wheels each week and work occasionally at the West Bethlehem Food Bank together.
What kind of advice would you give to a couple that wants to volunteer together?
orking together in service to our church or other charities brings us closer to the Lord and to each other.
Why should others get involved with the CAT?
It helps people to know other members of FPCB and feel that they are members of an important team. Hospitality work is on Sunday mornings when we are there anyway, and it is a predictable amount of time.
