Meet De.Von

If you want to feel like a kid again, come on out to Oasis, Saturdays at 6 p.m.. You'll find hospitality treats just like how your Mama made them.

What inspires you to serve?

New recipes and old family recipes from every flavor of the world. I gravitate towards Italian and Mediterranean dishes. I like including a messy kid dessert when I host hospitality because I found that the adults that come to worship find their inner child. One of those desserts I like to serve is worms and dirt, which is chocolate pudding, gummy worms, muddy bears, and dino treats.

Why do you serve?

I like to see people happy. I feel that the hospitality team provides an inviting atmosphere to stay, chat, and get to know each other. FPCB means family. I would like to thank the hospitality crew and our family for giving the time to shop, bake, cook, and serve. Everything I do truly comes from my heart.

I’ve been involved with the CAT for a year now, and I enjoy watching people smile when they see old and new favorite dishes. Even in food and chatter we can make a difference. Maybe you didn’t get a chance to eat today at school, work or at home and then you realize “Ohh look it’s time for church!” Or maybe you don’t have food and this provides something more we can take for granted. At the end of the day, if I fed someone who was hungry, I’m smiling.

I hope when I meet my God he has a cappuccino machine and something to snack on, because we have a lot to chat about.
