Meet Denise and Jeremiah

We all know that there are many different things going on whenrunning The Oasis Service at FPC Beth. Meet Denise and Jeremiah, two people who know how to put a smile on your face on a Sunday morning. Denise is an excellent baker (we'll be posting a recipe of hers soon!) and she also serves in Children's Ministries (the kids say she rocks!). Jeremiah serves on the hospitality team (we can see why, he's got a contagious smile). Read their interview below to get to know them better!

How does volunteering together contribute to your growth as a family?  We come early on our assigned Sunday mornings.   The boys often get to help Daddy set up before we go to service together, then they go to Sunday School while Mommy volunteers for Sunday School (we try to coordinate our volunteer days).  We spend the entire morning at church together and get to know other families better because of our volunteering.

What’s your favorite thing about each other? We probably know each other better than anyone else does (for better or worse!).

What’s your favorite scripture/song that inspires you to volunteer? John 13:34, “Just as I have loved you, you should love each other.”

What is your favorite part of the CAT? All of the CAT team are very approachable and friendly, and being part of this team has helped us feel more connected to FPC.

What kind of advice would you give to a couple that wants to volunteer together?  Try to volunteer as a family, even if you are doing different parts.  Although Jeremiah serves and I bake, we come to church together on those days.  After Jeremiah sets up, we attend service as a family, then it’s my turn to volunteer in Children’s Ministries.  The kids help set up hospitality, greet members with Daddy, and clean up after Sunday School with Mommy.  They get to feel like they are part of what makes the church work, too.

Why should others get involved with the CAT?   It’s a great way to meet other members, feel more connected to the church family, and it’s fun!  The people are great and it’s very rewarding to be part of such a wonderful team.
