Now is the time to prepare for the Coming of the Messiah this Advent Season. Meet us here each day of Advent where we will be posting a blog written by members of First Presbyterian Church of Bethlehem, representing an intergenerational sampling of contributors as they reflect on the scripture selections from the Daily Lectionary Advent readings from the Book of Common Worship. LECTIONARY READING: Haggai 2:1–9; Revelation 3:1–6; Matthew 24:1–14
This morning, take a few moments to reflect on Advent and the Lectionary Reading.
1.Reflections on Haggai 2:1–9:
What do you think this means—“the desired of all nations will come,
and I will fill this house with glory?”
2. Reflections on Revelation 3:1–6:
The church in Sardis has the unearned reputation of “being alive,” but actually, it “is dead.”
What must the church in Sardis do to survive?
3.Reflections on Matthew 24:1–14:
Why are Jesus’ warnings a help and an encouragement to us?
Prayer: Lord, we pray that we will be ready when you return and that we won’t be deceived. Help us to walk in your ways each day so that our faith in you will be deepened and strengthened. In Jesus’ wonderful name we pray. Amen.
