Now is the time to prepare for the Coming of the Messiah this Advent Season. Meet us here each day of Advent where we will be posting a blog written by members of First Presbyterian Church of Bethlehem, representing an intergenerational sampling of contributors as they reflect on the scripture selections from the Daily Lectionary Advent readings from the Book of Common Worship. Here is the Advent song the Lord sang over me one Christmas when all was not calm in my life. God gave me a song of love, joy, and peace to encourage me, and hopefully it will encourage you, too. Christ’s birth is the hope of the world.
Now with Angels Let Us Sing
Christmas is a time of peace / Joy within my heart released
Jesus came to rescue me / Thank you, God, for I believe.
(Chorus) For its love and joy and peace I feel / Now with angels I will sing
Alleluia, Glory to God (2x) / For Jesus is my King
(2nd: our King; 3rd: your King)
Angels sang to shepherds low / Fear not; good tidings of joy we bring
In a manger low a baby lay / And he is Christ your king!
In the hustle and bustle of this day / Christ came for you also
Now won’t you join our glad chorus / And praise the King of Glory?
Prayer: Dear God, thank you for sending your angel to Zechariah and to the shepherds that first Christmas. Thank you for singing over us your song of love, joy, and peace, so that we can sing this day that Jesus has come to deliver us! He is our King! Alleluia. Amen.
