Operation Christmas Child: Shoebox Build

As faithful followers of Christ, God calls all of us to give of our time, talent, and treasure for the greater good.  First Presbyterian Church of Bethlehem would like to partner with parents to instill this lesson in the children of our church family.

This year, our Children and Youth Discipleship Programs will be partnering with Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child to pack hundreds of shoeboxes for needy children around the world.  Kids in grades 3 – 12 will be packing OCC shoeboxes during the 10:15 Sunday Children’s Education classes on November 29.  Operation Christmas Child is the world’s largest Christmas outreach of its kind. Since 1993, Operation Christmas Child has delivered gift-filled shoeboxes to over 124 million children affected by war, poverty, natural disasters, and other crises in more than 150 countries and territories.  OCC partners with local churches to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with those who receive shoebox gifts and offers a 12-lesson discipleship program, The Greatest Journey, that helps boys and girls learn what it means to follow the Lord and share their faith with others.

From now until the end of December, all of our Children’s and Middle School collections will be dedicated to this worthy cause.  Children’s Offering envelopes will be available at all Sunday Children’s Education classes and at the new Children’s Center Welcome Desk.  Children can return their offerings to their Sunday class, or drop it in the offering baskets during any of our worship services.  If you would like to donate to this mission, please mark your offering Operation Christmas Child.
