Marriage and Couples Ministry

You planned for the first day of your marriage...are you planning for the last? While a wonderful wedding day is important, it's the last day of marriage that really counts. Will the last day of your marriage come prematurely through divorce? Will it be filled with regrets as you sit at the funeral of your spouse? Or, by God's grace, will the last day be a day to rejoice in the life you lived together?

Pastor Mark Driscoll and his wife, Grace, want you to finish well on the last day. Through their book Real Marriage and an eleven-week DVD-based study, they share practical help and hope with people just like them--who entered marriage a complete mess--or who are planning to be married someday and want to avoid some sticky pitfalls in the future.

DETAILS: Every Sunday starting 2/12 until 5/7 from 11:00AM-12:00PM in room 178

Midweek Bible Study

What comes to your mind when you hear the word ‘Church’? Many of us probably think of a particular activity that we connect with ‘church’-–things like worship services or VBS or a Bible study. Just as often we might think of a place, a destination to which we ‘go’ each week as we attend ‘church.’ In the New Testament, however, church is never an activity or a destination. In the coming months the Midweek Bible Class, led by pastors Mark Crumpler and Jeff Gissing, will examine the book of Acts and ask some important questions for our church: who were we meant to be and what were we meant to do?  The class will resume on Wednesday January 18 at 6:30 p.m., and Thursday January 19 at 11:00 a.m. Anyone is welcome. All you need to bring is a Bible. For further information contact Mark Crumpler.

New York City Bus Relief Short Term Mission August 1 –5, 2017

Volunteering with the Relief Bus is as an opportunity to embody Isaiah 58:9-10, by serving those living in extreme poverty and homelessness.  The concept is one that is rather simple in its execution; provide our brothers & sisters in Christ with a hot meal & prayer to nourish both their bodies and their sprits. The effect it can have is truly monumental and life transforming and one that honors our Father in the way He commands in Matthew 25:31-40, "Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me."

First Presbyterian Church of Bethlehem is answering a call to support and partner with New York City Relief through volunteering regularly with the Relief Bus outreach in Newark, NJ and NYC.

Learn to satisfy your deepest desire with God, not food as together we discuss and study the missing link between our desire's to be healthy and the spiritual empowerment necessary to make that happen.  Come join us as we discover the "want to" in how to make healthy lifestyle changes.

A Bible study that will focus on filling our bodies DEEPEST craving with the Lord and His Word over food.  It will help us dig deep into why we crave foods and often how that can become a sin when it deters us from meeting our deepest craving with HIM.

**NOTE: cost materials for this study will be responsibility of each participant unless a financial need is specified

*No class on Easter Sunday (April 16)

Blessing Bags

Join us on Palm Sunday, April 9 in Fellowship Hall from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to pack 650 Blessing Bags to feed children in Bethlehem during their five days Easter break.  Do you know that 7,974 children in our Bethlehem Area School District are on free and reduced lunches? These children and their families are dealing with severe food insecurity. The three schools that we have selected to receive these blessing bags are Donegan, Fountain Hill, and Broughal.  These three schools have between 87% to 95 % of children on free and reduced lunches.

How can you help?

-          Would you consider sponsoring one or more students?  Each blessing bag will cost an approximate $22.00.  We need to raise $15,000.00 to complete and deliver these bag packs.  Monetary donations for supplies are needed. Make checks payable to FPCB and note “Blessing Bags” on your check.  Or make your donation online by clicking HERE

-          Come to Fellowship Hall and help us pack the Blessing Bags on Palm Sunday after each of the worship services you will attend.

For any question please contact Pastor Manuela Kauer, ext 209.
