Older Adult Fitness Class

Older adults come together to move, strengthen muscles with a resistance band, engage in core work and balance training.

The older adult fitness class has involved women coming together to exercise in a way that meets the needs of their age. We warm up and then engage in dynamic stretching followed by a variety of work on their resistance bands, gliders, chair work, or wall push ups to engage a variety of muscles. We intersperse cardio and balance practice in with their strength exercises and finish with a cool down and stretch period.

This is held in Rom 178.

New York City Bus Relief Short Term Mission August 1 –5, 2017

Volunteering with the Relief Bus is as an opportunity to embody Isaiah 58:9-10, by serving those living in extreme poverty and homelessness.  The concept is one that is rather simple in its execution; provide our brothers & sisters in Christ with a hot meal & prayer to nourish both their bodies and their sprits. The effect it can have is truly monumental and life transforming and one that honors our Father in the way He commands in Matthew 25:31-40, "Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me."

First Presbyterian Church of Bethlehem is answering a call to support and partner with New York City Relief through volunteering regularly with the Relief Bus outreach in Newark, NJ and NYC.

Midweek Bible Study

What comes to your mind when you hear the word ‘Church’? Many of us probably think of a particular activity that we connect with ‘church’-–things like worship services or VBS or a Bible study. Just as often we might think of a place, a destination to which we ‘go’ each week as we attend ‘church.’ In the New Testament, however, church is never an activity or a destination. In the coming months the Midweek Bible Class, led by pastors Mark Crumpler and Jeff Gissing, will examine the book of Acts and ask some important questions for our church: who were we meant to be and what were we meant to do?  The class will resume on Wednesday January 18 at 6:30 p.m., and Thursday January 19 at 11:00 a.m. Anyone is welcome. All you need to bring is a Bible. For further information contact Mark Crumpler.

What Is God Doing In Iran?

Come and hear Dr. Sasan Tavassoli speak on Monday, May 22, at 7 p.m. in the Parlor. Dr. Tavassoli is a pastor who trains Iranian Christians around the world. He is here for the Iranian Bible Society meeting, hosted by FPCB.

Rev. Dr. Sasan Tavassoli is a former Shi'ite Muslim from Iran. In 1985, Sasan came to faith in Christ as the result of the ministry of a group of American missionaries while he was living in Portugal. He has dedicated his life "to the cause of telling the good news to my Muslim community". He is an ordained minister and has been leading ministries within the Iranian communities in the Diaspora as a teacher and later as a pastor for over two decades. Sasan travels extensively within the U.S., Europe, and the Middle East to preach among Iranian Christians and is extensively involved in leadership training for the growing churches inside Iran. Dr. Tavassoli is also a graduate of the Reformed Theological Seminary (MA), Columbia Theological Seminary (ThM) and earned his PhD in Islamic Studies from the University of Birmingham, UK. He and his family live in the USA.

About The Iranian Bible Society: In 1990, the Iranian government authorities closed the offices of the Iranian Bible Society in Tehran and arrested those who were working there. However, the work of the Bible society continued outside of Iran. With the initiative and guidance of the United Bible Societies, the Iranian Bible Society in Diaspora (IBSD) was established in 2015, with the vision for every Iranian around the globe to have access to the Bible, in the language and medium of their choice. IBSD's mission is to make the Bible available in Persian and other languages of Iran, so Iranians around the globe may experience its transforming message. IBSD is actively undertaking projects for the translation,

Marriage and Couples Ministry

You planned for the first day of your marriage...are you planning for the last? While a wonderful wedding day is important, it's the last day of marriage that really counts. Will the last day of your marriage come prematurely through divorce? Will it be filled with regrets as you sit at the funeral of your spouse? Or, by God's grace, will the last day be a day to rejoice in the life you lived together?

Pastor Mark Driscoll and his wife, Grace, want you to finish well on the last day. Through their book Real Marriage and an eleven-week DVD-based study, they share practical help and hope with people just like them--who entered marriage a complete mess--or who are planning to be married someday and want to avoid some sticky pitfalls in the future.

DETAILS: Every Sunday starting 2/12 until 5/7 from 11:00AM-12:00PM in room 178

Older Adult Fitness Class

Older adults come together to move, strengthen muscles with a resistance band, engage in core work and balance training.

The older adult fitness class has involved women coming together to exercise in a way that meets the needs of their age. We warm up and then engage in dynamic stretching followed by a variety of work on their resistance bands, gliders, chair work, or wall push ups to engage a variety of muscles. We intersperse cardio and balance practice in with their strength exercises and finish with a cool down and stretch period.

This is held in Rom 178.

*No class on Easter Sunday (April 16)

COLLEGE CARE PACKAGES

Another semester is coming to an end and our college students are facing finals and end-of-semester projects. Our military enjoy news from home. Help us show that we care by volunteering to bake three dozen cookies. Please bring them to church by noon on Monday, April 24. Leave the cookies labeled, "College Ministry" in the main kitchen. Email Susan Smith at ssmith@fpc-bethlehem.org in the church office, if you can bake or if you have an address for a college student or young person in the military in your family.
