 DISCIPLESHIP FOR CHILDREN is ...

Children's Ministrya support to parents in the Christian nurture and formation of their children.

Through our worship, people and programs we seek to welcome and nurture all children as they change and grow. Children's Ministry provides care and nurture for children from infancy through fifth grade. In Children's Ministry we rejoice in the ways parents teach their children to know and love God and we delight in being partners with our parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles in this process.

At the center of our ministry is Sunday mornings!
Childrens Ministry
Care for infants through two year olds is provided during all worship services.

In the summer child care is offered at 9 and 10:30 a.m. for children up through Kindergarten in Neighborhood A. Our trained volunteers, staff and nurse supervisor offer love and security in our well equipped child care rooms. Registration for child care is available in the Skylight area (look for the children's library) of the Children's Center.

Fall Sunday School is held at 9 and 10:30 a.m. for children turning 2 years old by October 1 through Grade 5.
  •   All families are encouraged to attend worship and Sunday school each week. Preschool children are welcome to attend Sunday School for two hours. Elementary children are encouraged to attend worship one hour and Sunday School one hour.

  •   Registration for Sunday School is conducted in the Skylight area (look for the children's library) of the Children's Center. All children must be registered in order to receive their neighborhood assignment.

Children's Library and Parenting Resources
Children's Library
Over 1,300 children's books are available for check-out. Our books give children insights into God and God's creation, stimulate their imagination and help them explore new ideas and develop life skills.

Resources in our parenting section provide guidance when your child has fears, encounters something new, or is bored. You will also find books to help you nurture your child's spiritual growth.

Mothers Closet
Provides baby equipment and clothing for when grandchildren are visiting and for families who can use these items.

Multiply God's investment in you and in our children - be a part of BIBLE ADVENTURES! During one amazing summer week, our children will explore the twists and turns of Growing in Character as we help them with the challenges they face at school and in friendships. This year, characters from the story of Esther have lots of good and bad choices to make - especially when it comes to peer pressure. Sign up for a great week, July 14-18. Registration forms are available in the Children's Center.

We are eager to have youth and adults help - create scenery, prepare crafts, prepare snacks, act in the story center, teach in the classroom and provide child care for young siblings whose parent is teaching. Please call Susan Smith, ext. 202.

Register for Sunday School Soon: We urgently need an enrollment form from your family if your children will be attending Sunday School this fall. We need this information to make up the class assignments. Forms are on the table in the Children’s Library. If your child came to Sunday School last year, you can call
Susan 610-317-6162, x 202 or email ssmith@fpc-bethlehem.org with the updated information. Thanks for your help!

New Information Concerning Baptisms
We are expanding the opportunities parents have to present their children for baptism. Parents may now choose the seminar they wish to attend, the month in which they wish their children to be baptized and in which of the four worship services they wish to celebrate the sacrament. We will now run 4 quarterly baptism seminars to support the parents of children to be baptized. These seminars/baptism dates are as follows:

MAY AND JUNE BAPTISMS: if you would like to have a child baptized in May or June you will need to attend the May Baptism Seminar on Saturday, May 3, 2008. Parents may choose the baptism date of May 11 or June 8, 2008. Please call Susan, 610-317-6162, ext. 202 to sign up.

Please call Susan Smith at ext. 202 for further information.
