Communion

The Last Supper
"While they were eating, Jesus took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, 'Take and eat; this is my body.' Then he took the cup, gave thanks and offered it to them, saying, 'Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins." (Matthew 26:26-28)

First Presbyterian Church of Bethlehem serves communion during every Worship service on the first Sunday of each month. We also serve communion in observance of the Last Supper of Jesus Christ with the Apostles on Maundy Thursday during Holy Week before Christ’s Crucifixion and Resurrection which culminates in our Easter Sunday celebration.

Jesus Christ, the Communion Host welcomes all who accept the invitation to the Table. We who come need not be concerned about our personal appearance or aptitude. What matters is that the love, the grace, and the hospitality of the Host create unanimity among us. This meal is provided, not because we have earned the right to eat and drink with Jesus, but simply as an act of divine love.

"Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me." (Revelation 3:20)
