Compassionate Care

Again Jesus said, "Simon, son of John, do you truly love me?" He answered, "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you." Jesus said, "Take care of my sheep." (John 21:16) The staff and volunteers of Care Ministry have made a commitment to be a compassionate friends who care; standing with one another in the midst of pain, sharing in the experiences of suffering and brokenness. We want to stand together in finding the healing, growth, hope and joy that God, through Christ, intends for all. This group gathers every Monday from 7 to8 p.m. in room 420 to encourage men and women who are unemployed or underemployed through Bible study, prayer and small group interaction. During a time when many Christian people are unemployed, those individuals face spiritual issues in addition to the more evident threats to their lives. Besides the financial deprivation and practical aspects of looking for meaningful work, people living with joblessness also face other challenges. They deal with many negative feelings and thoughts, including anger, hopelessness, and despair. It is the primary purpose of this group to discover God’s thoughts, purposes and support during this difficult time. With the foundation in God established, the psychological and spiritual issues can be addressed. That is the focus of this group.
